History

Keeping its eyes on the goal

In 1932, Alois Kneer founded a small cabinet-making company in Westerheim in the Swabian Alps in southern Germany. That is how it all began. In the early sixties, his son Horst Kneer took over the management of the family business. Under his management the group of companies developed into one of the leading manufacturers of windows and front or entry doors in Europe. Today the Kneer-Südfenster group is run by its third generation CEO Florian Kneer with more than 650 employees in the Westerheim, Schnelldorf and Massen plants.

Three sites of around 30,000 square metres of production space are where windows and front doors are manufactured purely on a made-to-order basis and in line with the customer’s wishes. Ongoing investments ensure that the production plants, which have the distinction of being highly flexible, are always kept at a state-of-the-art level.

At the parent plant in Westerheim, Kneer Südfenster manufactures aluminium-wood-clad windows, aluminium-wood doors, wood doors, UPVC windows and front doors made UPVC. At the plant in the Middle Franconian town of Schnelldorf, situated directly on the A6, wood-framed windows, wood front doors, UPVC windows, aluminium-UPVC windows and front doors made from aluminium-UPVC are manufactured. At the Massen plant aluminium windows and aluminium front doors are manufactured.

Some 1,500 windows and more than 30 front doors leave the production facilities on a daily basis transported to the customer by the in-house vehicle fleet. Sales take place exclusively via a network of qualified specialist retailers across an extensive area, as well as directly to prefab house manufacturers.

Each production facility features an expansive contemporary display.
